YOUNG-GAGE - At
St. Paul's Church, Glanford, Wednesday, March 21, were married Miss Julia C.
Gage, second daughter of Mr. William Gage of Ryckman's Corners, to Mr. Peter F.
Young, attorney, of this city. The bride was attired in plum silk with tulle
veil and orange blossoms and looked exceedingly well. The bridesmaids were
attired as follows: Miss Lydia E. Gage, sister of the bride, in garnet silk;
Miss Nellie Gage, of Hamilton, cousin of the bride, in plum silk; Miss Bertie
Gage, another sister of the bride, in pale blue nun's veiling, all with
appropriate head-dresses. The groomsmen were Lieut. W. Young, brother of the groom,
and Mr. W. J. McIntyre, of Hamilton. Rev. George A. Bull performed the ceremony
after which dinner was discussed at the residence of the bride's father. There
were many handsome and expensive presents. Mr. and Mrs. Young left for the West
in the evening, departure being signalled by a broadside of good wishes and
symbolic rice.

(Montreal) - Gene Tracy, of Albany, N.Y., was married here to-day to Miss M. H.
Duchesnay, daughter of the late Col Philip Duchesnay, of this city. The
bridegroom is in the US commissary service, but is a native of this city where
his father was a newspaper publisher and editor. The ceremony was performed by
Bishop McNierney, of Albany, who had several priests from that city assisting
him. The event was in every respect a very fashionable one.

(Montreal) - The marriage of Miss Amy Gordon, eldest daughter of Sir A. F.
Galt, to Mr. Robert Grant, of Boston, here was the fashionable event of the
season. The ceremony occurred in Christ Church Cathedral, the Bishop of Huron
and Dean of Montreal officiating. The guests were very
numerous being
from Boston, New York, and all parts of Canada. The bridegroom is the son of a
retired and wealthy merchant of the Hub, and is a celebrated author of works
that have obtained a great circulation in the States.

Mr. F. J. Howell, of Hamilton, was married at Bayfield on Thursday last to Miss
Maggie Rutledge, daughter of Mr. Andrew Rutledge. The ceremony was performed by

honeymoon trip.

Lilly, the only daughter of S. H. Defries, the well known livery stable keeper,
and M. F. Smith, dental surgeon, have eloped. Lilly was engaged to H. Bolster,
a barrister in Winnipeg, but met Smith and surrendered to his superior charms.
Her father sternly opposed her marrying Smith and commanded her to fulfil her
engagement to the Winnipeger. This morning he received a letter apprising him
of Lilly's marriage with Smith and expressing hope of forgiveness on their

immediate relatives of the contracting parties. Mr. Nelson was for seven years
a resident of Dundas and during that time he made many friends here. His bride,
too, has always been a general favourite among her associates whose kindly
feelings towards her were shown in the splendid array of wedding presents which
were both numerous and costly. The happy couple left immediately after the ceremony
for Aurora where they will reside in future. They carry with them the best

well known resident of this city, at one time connected with the firm of

DYKE-FOX - On Christmas Day, Miss Sophie Fox, of Chatham, was married to Rev. J. Dyke, of Bowmanville, in Christ Church, Chatham. Hamilton was one of the places visited by the young couple.
